Low End Theory Turns 24 Today!

Today’s Throwback Thursday celebrates A Tribe Called Quest’s 2nd studio album “Low End Theory” released on September 24th 1991.

The special thing about this album is that it was one of the first records to fuse hip hop with a chilled out & relaxed Jazz vibe. The simplicity of stripping down the tracks to its essentials: vocals, drums and bass; it is so often referred to by engineer Bob Power the “St. Peppers of Hip Hop” (any Beetles fan would understand).

Rolling Stones ranked the album at 154 in their “Top 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time” as well as it being amongst the favourites of so many other people. “Scenario” one of the more notable songs on the album featuring Busta Rhymes, Charlie Brown and Dinco D helped the album go platinum in 1995; thus cementing it as one of the most influential albums of its time.
